“In the real world, Halloween is when kids dress up in costumes and beg for candy. In Girl World, Halloween is the one day a year when a girl can dress up like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it.” - Cady Heron - Mean Girls
Halloween has changed so much since we were kids. It used to be a day to dress up scary, paint your face and go out to get treats from all your neighbours. Now Halloween is a week long competition that blows up instagram with people posting their DIY costumes fighting for the most likes, comments or favourites. Celebrities and influenceners spend thousands on outfits just to post on social media and be placed on best dressed lists.
So its safe to say halloween has changed massively, especially the costumes. When I was little I couldnt wait home to go and paint my face green put some fake spides in my hair and wear old hand-me-downs that were ugly enough to be pulled off as a witches dress but now its extremely different. This halloween was the biggest of my life and thats all down to starting uni. Every person you spoke to was asking what you were wearing or where you were going on the big night.
There was alot of pressure on looking good and being something cute or sexy; so this is what I had to go off. I had two halloween events booked so that meant thinking of two costumes, that also meant alot of planning. Im the type of peerson to leave anything till the last minute so obviously I procrastinated these outift ideas too. My first costume was made less than 24 hours before I had to be at the event, I knew I wanted to be more scary than sexy so looked to my favourite horror film: IT. I had to make Pennywise cool.
Living in Nottingham city centre means im only around 10 minutes away from the amazing 'Luvyababes', a costume shop. Being a student living in Nottingham however means I little funds to be creating crazy outfits so had to use alot of what I already have and i managed to create a really effective look only spending around £10 on a tutu and some coloured eye contacts.

My second outfit idea came from looking around for something cheap that I could make look good. In the costume shop I found some kids fairy wings and a wand, also having my hair recently bleached and a frindge put in, I would make the perfect tinkerbell, just add a bun and some glitter.
