Vague Skate Mag- 'Spot the difference'
A photo story for Vague Skate Mag that looks at how skateboarding improves men’s mental and physical health.
About ...
Brief: Create a print and digital photostory for an independent magazine, exploring the physical and mental benefits of outdoor exercise AND the environmental benefits of re-wearing, reusing and upcycling. (Group project)
Our project looked at how skateboarding improves men’s mental and physical health. There is a contrast between being indoors vs outdoors where his mood switches as he ‘escapes reality and uses exercise as a means of distraction from any worries in his daily life.
The Ben Reamers foundation was a huge influence on this photo story. The suicide of a young, very well-known skateboarder bought light to the issues that men face but are too afraid to talk about due to stigmas surrounding speaking out. We wanted to use this opportunity to bring more awareness to the matter.
Response: The feedback was very positive. We worked well as a team and portrayed good collaborative concept development and verbalised rationale.
