Covid-19 inspired art

Coronavirus has obviously been a terrible thing to happen to the world, but not everyone is dwelling on this fact, in fact, many people have used the pandemic to inspire works of art that are truly amazing and inspiring. Over the course of lockdown, I've been collecting my favorite pieces that have come out of this tragedy.

The first piece was made by one of my favorite artists Marius Sperlich. Sperlich is a Berlin-based photographer. His Instagram account is a showcase of his amazing work in which he walks a fine line between Instagram censorship and provocativeness, he uses the human body as a canvas to style tiny little props that tell a larger story. His 'ISOLATION' piece collated his thoughts over the first few days of the pandemic. He wrote: "People are blinded by panic." "An overflow of information and misinformation through the contemporary (social) medial landscape provide a fertile breeding ground for fear-mongering and conspiracy theories." "Our senses have been restricted, we’re isolated and afraid, incapable of rational thoughts."

The next piece is by Hong Kong artist Tommy Fung. He has created a series of Coronavirus-inspired artworks on his Instagram. They’re a reflection of what the artist sees in Hong Kong, “in an exaggerated way and with a bit of humor,” he said. “The reaction and behavior of people to the coronavirus is sometimes much more surrealist than my artworks and it is hard to not point it out.” He adds: “People are very frustrated and distrustful of the ineffectiveness and delayed reactions of the Hong Kong government. The elderly and people with low incomes are the most vulnerable in this situation and they have not received a single mask from the local government.”

Other coronavirus inspired art has hit the streets with huge murals appearing over countless cities. These are some of my favorites:
